The F-4 visa is for foreign nationals of Korean descent (Overseas Koreans). Employment and business activities are allowed within the scope permitted for the F-4 status (some occupations are restricted by Ministry of Justice notice). This page covers application documents and processing time.
2. Eligibility Requirements
- A person who held Korean nationality by birth (including those who emigrated before the founding of the Republic of Korea) and acquired foreign nationality (F-4-41), or a lineal descendant of such a person who acquired foreign nationality (F-4-42)
- Documents proving Korean descent, Korean language proficiency documents and an overseas criminal record certificate
- Males who left Korean nationality after May 1, 2018 without completing or being exempted from military service may be restricted until December 31 of the year they turn 40
